December Special Event

Our Canederli or ‘meatballs’ have a very long history: they can already be seen in a fresco from 1180, called “The dumpling eater ”, situated in a castle near Bolzano. They are a striking example of poor and simple cuisine, but remained a great tradition of the north-east of ’ Italy.

Legend has it that the Croccante recipe was born in Sicily during the domination of the Saracens (in about 1200). Typical Christmas dessert, it is called "cubaita" in Sicily, a name that derives precisely from the Arabic "qubbiat" which means "almond".
