Legend has it that the "chiacchiere" (litterally, "chat") was invented by Raffaele Esposito, chef of Queen Margherita of Savoy per her request. She expressed the desire of having a dessert that could accompany the chats that she would have with her guests. Although a similar recipe is also found in the ancient Roman festival of Saturnalia.

The Castagnole (Zeppole) are the Italian Carnival typical dessert!! Typical in Southern Italy, we find them for the first time in a late eighteenth-century manuscript, found in the State Archives of Viterbo by Italo Arieti.
